Zermatt has picked up one of this year’s Blick Winter Awards: on Thursday 2 March the results of an online vote by the Blick Group were celebrated at its award ceremony. Six awards went to the best Swiss winter sports areas, split into the categories “Snowboard & skiing”, “Cross country skiing”, “Small and sweet”, “Leisure and fun”, “Family” and “Gastronomy”. Zermatt took the top prize in the latter award, which was presented for the first time this year. Zermatt was also successful in the “Skiing and snowboarding” category, achieving second place. Blick awarded Zermatt CHF 85,000 for its first place in “Gastronomy”, which can be used for advertising purposes across its channels.

GaultMillau's "Host of the Year" serves in a Zermatt ski lodge! It's a rather sophisticated "lodge". "Chez Vrony" is synonymous with outstanding Zermatt gastronomy on the slopes. The business has been run by Vrony Cotting-Julen over many years, with the support of her husband Max. She epitomises warmth and professionalism, providing an oasis of calm despite the daily rush to service. The gastro guide has also awarded Vrony Cotting-Julen 14 points.

The world’s biggest ski area test portal has been recognising the best ski areas every year since 1998. On 5 November 2020, the Matterhorn ski paradise was once again crowned best ski resort in the Alps. The Best Ski Resort Report is the biggest independent visitor satisfaction survey in the Alps and is conducted every two years. After two overall wins in 2014 and 2016 and a second place in 2018, Zermatt has topped the ratings yet again in 2020.
