Zermatt’s mighty mountains are the highest and most impressive peaks in the Alps. The most famous of all: the Matterhorn. Climb to the top with crampons, rope and pickaxe. Crossing the glaciers and eternal snowfields of the Alpine mountain world is an unforgettable experience. And is among the most beautiful things an alpinist will experience in his life.

The world of 38 four-thousanders

Zermatt – Matterhorn stands out because of the number and variety of mountain-climbing opportunities. From straightforward Alpine four-thousanders to challenging tours: This is where dreams are realised. Whether it's on the Matterhorn or one of the other 37 four-thousanders that surround it. Thanks to modern infrastructure, some goals can be reached in a day tour – but you still have to rise early. The tours on which you stay overnight in one of the many mountain huts are particularly attractive.

Everything climbing-related

In addition to the big, famous Alpine tours, in Zermatt – Matterhorn you can also spend slower-paced days on the rock face. Spectacular views included. Easier routes can be found in the village centre or on the Fluhalp. Numerous multi-pitch routes have been set up on the Riffelhorn. Some can even be climbed with mountain boots.  These are popular as preparation for the Matterhorn. There are several walls available in the Dossen climbing area. Apart from the “Mischisand” sector , the routes in this climbing area are mainly grades 7 and 8 difficulty.
