Kantonspolizei Wallis
The Valais cantonal police are tasked with upholding the law, maintaining public order, safety and the peace and protecting people and property.
Mountains and lakes - our canton’s topography, with the Rhone valley and its side valleys, affects the police’s active services, which are spread across the whole of the canton. The canton is divided into three districts - Upper Valais, the German-speaking part of the canton; Central Valais and Lower Valais, where French is spoken. From the Rhône Glacier to Lake Geneva, via the tourist resorts to the city centre and to the Rhône itself - many different skills are required in order to perform these security duties in all these different areas.
