Zermatt is thrilled to be allowed to stage the first international MTB event since the corona crisis. Between 28 and 30 August 2020, the first round of the legendary Enduro World Series will take place, with the whole event subject to strict international safety standards. The world’s best enduro riders will pit themselves against technical Alpine stages with breathtaking views. After a long break, riders are looking forward to a thrilling competition at the foot of the Matterhorn!

On Friday, a world first will also take place in the Matterhorn village. A new World Cup discipline will be born – the EWS-E! “This is an historic moment in MTB history and TRAILLOVE Zermatt is proud to be part of this trend-setting development,” says Adrian Greiner, president of the organising committee.

In line with sales figures of some e-bikes, which have risen by more than 1,000 per cent compared to last year, the EWS-E will take the e-bike trend to a new competitive level. Athletes can expect a technically and physically demanding, varied course surrounded by four-thousanders, perfect competition conditions for e-mountain bikes. The EWS-E has been developed by the Enduro World Series and is supported by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). In doing so, the UCI is making a clear statement about the future of the sport.
