The Matterhorn will be celebrated in 2015. 150 years ago, on 14 July 1865, the first people stood on the summit. This is what is being celebrated – with the reopening of the Hörnlihütte, the Open-Air Theatre, an Epoch Week in July and many, many other festivities.
Experiences at the foot of a glacier, on a green alpine meadow, at an idyllic mountain lake. Is it to be an unforgettable mountain tour – in the face of the highest and most beautiful mountains in the alps? Or an excursion to comfortably get to the top of a mountain peak?
Zermatt is heaven for snow lovers. There are pistes for beginners, experts and everyone in between. Here in Europe’s highest-altitude ski area, snow is guaranteed 365 days a year. For relaxation: winter hiking paths and snowshoe trails with views of the snowy Matterhorn.
Zermatt repeatedly wins awards for its eco-friendliness. Motorists park in Täsch to change onto a train: 5 km from Zermatt they enter a different world. In car-free Zermatt, everyone moves around on foot. Transport is by electric vehicle – and that goes for the police, too.
