Awards for Martin Anthamatten, Elia Zurbriggen and further Zermatt athletes


The Zermatt sportsmen Martin Anthamatten (29) and Elia Zurbriggen (23) have received Upper Valais Sport Awards 2013. The winner was Ski alpinist Martin Anthamatten while ski racer Elia Zurbriggen won third place. Victoria Kreuzer, Martin Anthamatten’s partner, also received a Sport Award.

Ski alpinist Martin Anthamatten can proudly look back on a string of top performances at the national and international level. Having claimed four podium places, he was rated best Upper Valais sportsperson and received the Upper Valais Sport Award 2013. A record holder at the Patrouille des Glaciers, multiple world champion and Swiss champion, Martin Anthamatten always comes in among the top mountain runners. Victoria Kreuzer (24), who also competes as a ski alpinist and mountain runner, won second place in her discipline. She can often be seen training in Zermatt with her partner, Martin Anthamatten. A further award went to Zermatt team athlete Tom Jauner.

Zermatt ski racer Elia Zurbriggen, son of Pirmin Zurbriggen, claimed third place on the podium at the Upper Valais Sport Award ceremony. 2013 was the 18th year of the Awards. Six athletes per category were shortlisted by a panel of experts and the winners were determined by vote.
