Fourth place at the World Championships for Yannic Lerjen from Zermatt
The skier Yannic Lerjen achieved the fourth place in the Halfpipe discipline at the Freeski Open in New Zealand at the beginning of September 2011. This was a real sensation, and confirms his top form.
The 22-year old from Zermatt talks about his success: “I put all my eggs in one basket – and it paid off for me“, he said via Skype to Zermatt after his exploit. With his performance, Yannic was able to show that he is among the world’s best in the halfpipe discipline, although he is actually an absolute newcomer at this level, and was only there to gain experience. With his performance in the halfpipe, Yannic Lerjen is currently in fifth place in the world rankings.
He will carry on training in New Zealand up to the 15th September. He thereby has the opportunity to train with the newly created Swiss Freeski Team and to simultaneously compete at the international level.
