Zermatt hoteliers have every reason to be proud. In the latest hotel rating by the Swiss business magazine Bilanz published at the end of July 2012, Zermatt once again did exceptionally well. The Hotel Coeur des Alpes was once again able to secure top position and the Backstage Hotel and Vernissage now appear in the same category.
The Zermatt Garni-Hotel Coeur des Alpes once again takes top place in the “Best Swiss 3-star and unique-boutique holiday hotels” category. The Backstage Hotel and Vernissage is a new entry in 6th place in the same category and this year the Hotel Post takes 14th place.
The Hotel Mont Cervin Palace Zermatt (18th) is praised. According to the business magazine, the hotel sells a sense of well-being instead of a myth and thanks to the constant addition of fresh new units, is not a retreat for nostalgia lovers but an example for the future. Among the climbers are The Omnia (22nd) and the Cervo (27th) According to Bilanz, they inspire “…with an exclusive hideaway-character, a homely ambiance and multi-skilled staff, who perform their duties with pleasure and appreciate service as an art.”
The Hotel Riffelalp Resort 2222 m (4th) and the Hotel Mirabeau (31st) are the only hotels to have lower ratings than last year in the “50 best holiday hotels in Switzerland” category.
The Bilanz ratings are based on four assessment pillars and cover a wide spectrum of sources. Written surveys are conducted with top hoteliers and Bilanz also tests the hotels, with 400 visited this year for this purpose. In addition, the business magazine takes into account assessments in trade guides as well as the experiences of travel professionals and conference organizers.
