Legends, megastars and newcomers: advance sales for the Zermatt Unplugged are now on


Nine acts have confirmed shows at the Marquee Stage, Vernissage and Sunnegga Sessions: Today, Thursday 12 December 2013 at 12 pm, Zermatt Unplugged will launch the advances sales for the 7th festival with new stages and international artists.

Once again, from 8 to 12 April 2014, the acoustic festival will present musical highlights at the foot of the Matterhorn. This year, a new set of legends, megastars and newcomers will rub shoulders: Both Simply Red singer Mick Hucknall, who dominated a whole music era, and Aloe Blacc, who has become a megastar since his last appearance at the festival in 2012, will perform at the Marquee. In the same venue, the internationally acclaimed singer Katie Melua will captivate her audience on festival Wednesday. The British newcomer Tom Odell will launch the festival on the Vernissage stage. Both his fellow countryman Jamie Scott and the French artist Yodelice will perform on the same stage. A brand-new touch of Jazz will be added to the Zermatt Unplugged 2014 by Jamie Cullum and Ronnie Scott’s All Stars (Gandegghütte). Andy Burrows( UK) and Ron Pope (USA) are both confirmed for the Sunnegga Sessions at an altitude of 2,288 m. With an audience capacity of 110, an intimate atmosphere is guaranteed. Further bands playing the Marquee Stage, The Alex, the Vernissage and the Sunnegga Sessions will be announced at the end of January 2014.

New stages
Two new venues, the Gandegghütte und The Alex, will add an extra spark to the 7th Zermatt Unplugged Festival. Ronnie Scott's All Stars, house band at Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in London, will provide musical entertainment on the Gandegghütte stage at a record-breaking altitude of 3,030 m above sea level. For the duration of the festival, Hotel Alex is converting its tennis hall into a stage. ‘The Alex’ will accommodate an audience of 1,000. Artists can get quickly from hotel room to stage to boisterous after-show party with concertgoers and hotel guests.

Advance tickets will be available at the ZAP book shop, Hofmattstrasse 3, and at the Schweizerische Post, Bahnhofstrasse, as of 12 December 2013.

Save the date
The Season Opening with performances by James Walsh, Marlon Roudette and the Bach Collegium Zürich will take place on 27 and 28 December 2013.

Jamie Cullum brings jazzy sounds to the Unplugged
