In April 2014, the Zermatt Unplugged music festival will go through the roof when musicians from the renowned Ronnie Scott’s jazz club perform at the Gandegghütte - at an altitude of 3,030 m. A wonderful treat for jazz fans and a logistical challenge for both musicians and organisers!

As with the first man, the ascent of the Matterhorn by the first woman was considered to be a milestone in Alpine history. At the time, the two most likely contenders were Meta Brevoort from the USA and Lucy Walker from the UK. The two woman Alpinists met in Zermatt in the summer of 1871, just after young Lucy had won the race to the peak.

On Saturday, 17 August 2013, over 550 Alphorn players will assemble on Gornergrat to set a new world record.
