Portrait exhibition in the Hotel Riffelberg

As a living witness, the Hotel Riffelberg is part of the golden age of alpinism. Painted portraits of mountain guides from then to now are a testimony to this tradition.

On the occasion of the theme year "Customs and Tradition" of Swiss Tourism 2013 the municipality has arranged for a display of a number of portraits of mountain guides. They include charismatic figures such as Matthäus Zumtaugwald, the guide of the first ascent of the Dufourspitze, or Bettina Sulliger-Perren, the first female Zermatt mountain guide, and many more. All can be seen in the Hotel Riffelberg on the Gornergrat.

The mountain guide portraits can be viewed from 23 March until further notice.
