Avalanche course SBV (Swiss Mountain Guide Association) Certification Winter Level 1
The SWISS MOUNTAIN TRAINING certificate raises awareness of the dangers that lurk in the mountains and teaches you the right way to react in the event of avalanches. The two-stage training system with certification in accordance with the quality and safety standards of Swiss mountain guides is taught by the certified ZERMATTERS mountain guides.
SWISS MOUNTAIN TRAINING 1 (SMT 1)
Course content and objectives
The module “Winter 1: safety and avalanches” is a one-day course that imparts the following learning objectives:
- Familiarizing yourself with your equipment
- Understanding the avalanche bulletin
- Knowing how to wear your avalanche transceiver and how it works
- Awareness of the main winter hazards (avalanches, cold, weather hazards, disorientation, falls, etc.)
- Introduction to the 3x3 method
- Recognizing the four typical avalanche situations and being able to answer the following question: “What is the greatest danger today?”
- Understanding the general risk reduction measures (“Safer Six”)
- Being able to perform a simple rescue
