Every year, the Sonntagszeitung newspaper publishes a hotel guide ranking the best hotels in Switzerland in different categories. This year, the guide includes thirteen Zermatt hotels.

Zermatt voted best ski area in the world for 2019


Snow-Online has once again selected the crème de la crème of winter sports – the ten best ski resorts in the world for the 2018/2019 winter season. The experts looked at over 250 ski resorts and tested them in ten categories. The outcome: Zermatt wins the title.


Zermatt receives five Michelin stars for 2019


The Michelin Guide to Switzerland 2019 makes it official - Zermatt remains the Swiss capital of gourmet cuisine. The Matterhorn village retains its current three stars and adds two more.


‘The Omnia’ wins a place on the podium

Zermatt – Matterhorn is certified as a Family Destination


The Swiss Tourism Federation has recognised the family-friendly achievements of the Matterhorn destination, awarding it the "Family Destination" quality label for 2019-2021.


World's best ski chalet: Chalet Les Anges


For the sixth year running, the World Ski Awards have taken place in Kitzbühel. This year, Chalet Les Anges in Zermatt has once again come first in the category of World's Best Ski Chalet.


Zermatt voted best Swiss ski resort 2018


The Zermatt ski region has been awarded first place nationally and second place internationally in the poll for "Best Ski Resort 2018". 46,000 winter sports enthusiasts were surveyed over winter 2017/18 in 55 ski regions across five countries, making the "Best Ski Resort" the largest customer satisfaction study in the Alps.


Five Zermatt hotels in the top 50


Last year the "NZZ am Sonntag" newspaper published a ranking of the best Swiss hotels for the first time. This year, three-star hotels were in the spotlight – and five Zermatt establishments impressed the jury.


Zermatt young chef takes second place


Mirjam Schwarz, from the Grand Hotel Zermatterhof, showcased her cooking skills at the national young chef competition – impressing the jury.


Zermatt Restaurants are Awarded 242 GaultMillau Points


GaultMillau has selected the 850 best restaurants in Switzerland for 2019. The results for Zermatt can be marveled at: 17 Zermatt restaurants were among them, with the best awarded 17 points.


Karl Wild chooses Zermatt hotels


The hotel guide in the Sonntagszeitung newspaper, created by journalist Karl Wild and a team of experts, named the 150 best hotels in Switzerland in 2018/19 – including eleven Zermatt establishments.


Zermatt hotel The Omnia awarded Prix Bienvenu


The Omnia has been named the "Friendliest Hotel in Switzerland" in the luxury hotel category. The 5-star hotel received the Prix Bienvenu at the 2018 Schweizer Ferientag tourism industry conference.
