Around Zermatt there are three official mountain landing sites, which are served by Air Zermatt for helibiking. The departures from the landing pads at Äschihorn and Alphubeljoch lead over glaciers, which is why these helibike tours can only be done together with a mountain guide. If, however, the landing pad at Unterrothorn is approached, the accompaniment of a mountain guide is not obligatory.
It is important to remember that helicopter transportation is needed to access the locations higher up the mountain, so clothing should be worn that is appropriate for the temperatures. A fully functioning mountain bike and repair kit are also essential, as nobody wants to have to push their bike back down the mountain.
