Bäckerei Fuchs: Holiday apartment guests will enjoy this. Beginning 17 December 2016, the pop-up store in the Winkelmatten quarter at the final station of the Winkelmatten electric bus line is open. Here there is fresh, crusty bread, chocolate spread for bread, butter, cheese – everything for breakfast. Coffee to go, beverages. Open daily from 7 am to 10 am until Easter.
Chalet Hotel Schönegg: The hotel bar and restaurant have been completely renovated. “Uncorked” is what the new concept is called. The name is the programme. A selection of over 80 wines from the Valais, from Switzerland’s wine cantons, and the Bordeaux area in France await you in a comfortable and dignified setting. A unique item is the house wine from the grapes of the hotel owners, the Metry-Julen family. Andy Varonier from Varen vinifies this full-bodied wine. There are suitable delicacies for each wine. Guests enjoy a singular view over the roofs of Zermatt and of the Matterhorn from both the bar with its extensive glass front as well as from the Infinity Terrace. Open to everyone from 11 am to 11 pm daily.
Backstage Hotel: The Zermatt artist Heinz Julen has renovated six Cube Lofts of his own design in his hotel. The rooms now with walls outfitted with different types of wood and fabrics reveal the characteristics of Julen’s unmistakeable Alpine chic style. The result is spatial dimensions with far greater expression.
New shop Meringue Alpine Concept Store: At the Bodmenstrasse 14, opening 10th December 2016, offering a selection of decorative and design products, games for children and adults, trendy accessories, books and deli food. And also Cuckoo clocks.
On a discovery journey: A great deal happens on the Bahnhofstrasse of Zermatt. If you wind your way along the famous main street of the Matterhorn village, you will discover many new things, for example the watch and clothing shops.
