European Running Championship from Zermatt to the Riffelberg

This will be the very first time that Switzerland – a successful mountain running nation – has hosted the European Mountain Running Championships and it will be based in Zermatt.

The European Mountain Running Championships will take place in connection with the Gornergrat Zermatt Marathon on 6 July. Once the amateur athletes have had their day (Saturday), it will be the turn of the professionals from almost 30 countries around the world to be in the spotlight. The elite race is 10.1 km and goes from Zermatt up to the Riffelberg, and the U20 race is slightly shorter (this starts on the Riffelalp). The whole Swiss team will be in Zermatt from Monday 1 July to prepare for the race.
