The highlight in the new Hotel Schaller's Tannenhof: a virtual trip up the Gornergrat with 120 seats – accompanied by the finest delicacies. Homemade pasta specialities, stone-baked pizza and much more are available in the Golden LokDown restaurant.
The journey begins as soon as you arrive: the sustainably heated and illuminated entrance simulates a railway line. In the unique quarry stone vault nine metres below ground, the first Gornergrat locomotive from 1898 shines in gold. Preserved in its original state, including the control system, engine and cogwheel mechanism – it is open for inspection. At the next station, in the cosy gallery, we offer additional inviting seating in intense fir green, surrounded by pleasant wooden panelling.
And as befits a trip to the Gornergrat, it includes an open panorama with a view of the Matterhorn and a small terrace at the very top.
