The BaseCamp Hotel has been family-owned since 1980 and run by Richard and Yvette Lehner-Gaudin since December 2017. Richard has worked as a mountain guide and rescue specialist for more than 30 years and Yvette comes from a family of Valais mountain guides. Both have always been involved in tourism – whether through renting holiday accommodation or as hut wardens of the Gandegg & Monte Rosa huts. Each of the 27 rooms tells an exciting or interesting story about life in the mountains. They live by the motto: “Luxury for us is the time we spend in the mountains!”

Now the BaseCamp Hotel is closing for an extended break in autumn 2023 for extensive renovation work. It will open again on 15 December 2023 with a brand new makeover. Guests can look forward to modern room furnishings in the familiar, natural BaseCamp style. The new-look accommodation promises a special experience, with each room featuring a pictorial presentation of an individual mountain and its history. All rooms will also be equipped with new bathrooms, king-size box-spring beds and customised furnishings.

BaseCamp is already looking forward to welcoming mountain climbers, nature lovers, skiers, luxury travellers and mountain enthusiasts in the newly designed rooms from mid-December.
