This is the third time that the newspaper has ranked the best hotels in Switzerland and this year, it focuses on hotels with a maximum of 30 rooms or suites. The hotels’ individual character was a key priority when rating them. A jury of NZZ editors and external experts assessed and ranked the best small hotels in Switzerland:
The Omnia – best small 5-star hotel
In addition to the overall rating, hotels were also assessed within four categories – the best small city hotels, gourmet hotels, country and mountain hotels, and 5-star hotels in Switzerland. To make a more level playing field, this last category was not included in the overall assessment. Top of the best small 5-star hotels is “The Omnia”, impressing the jury with its architecture and tasteful furnishings. The “Unique Hotel Post” is third in the category of best small country and mountain hotels.
Unique Hotel Post in fourth place in overall ranking
There are many Zermatt hotels in the overall ranking of the 50 best small hotels in Switzerland: “Unique Hotel Post” (4th place), “Silvana Mountain Hotel” (8th place), “Coeur des Alpes” (13th place), “Riffelhaus 1853” (17th place), “Bellerive” (21st place), “Zurbriggen” (22nd place), “Firefly” (27th place), “Bella Vista” (33rd place), “Matterhorn Focus” (41st place), “La Vue” (44th place) and “22 Summits” (49th place).
