Partnership confirmed for another five years

11/04/2018

At the opening event of Zermatt Unplugged, the Zermatt – Matterhorn destination and the festival organisers announced that they had carved their partnership in stone for the next five years.

The Zermatt – Matterhorn destination and the organisation behind Zermatt Unplugged have confirmed their partnership for a further five years, so the festival will be held at least until 2022, with both parties providing key services. Zermatt – Matterhorn will be primarily responsible for communication, materials and financial support, while Zermatt Unplugged will promote the destination in an annual marketing campaign.

"This festival shows what we can achieve here when we use our entrepreneurial spirit and work together," said Paul-Marc Julen, President of Zermatt Tourism, at the opening event of this year’s festival on 10 April 2018 in Vernissage in Zermatt. He gave Thomas Sterchi, the President of Zermatt Unplugged, and Rolf Furrer, the CEO of Zermatt Unplugged, a stone tablet engraved with their partnership, symbolising the collaboration between them.

"We know that by all working together, we can ensure that this festival in Zermatt will continue to be successful and epitomise the uniqueness of Zermatt as a destination," said Paul-Marc Julen.

In addition to establishing what the parties will each provide, the contract also sets out the scale of the music festival. Like this year’s festival, the event will last five days and is to be held annually until 2022.

Zermatt Unplugged is an acoustic music festival in its eleventh year which took place this year from 10 to 14 April. Over five days, more than 80 concerts took place on 14 stages, spread out over the whole village and on the mountain.
