Zermatt and Salgesch have been strong partners since the 150-year celebrations in 2015 of the first ascent of the Matterhorn. The vintners from Salgesch love introducing visitors to the Matterhorn village to the Valais region's amazing wines. Wine experts have known for decades about the ‘growths’ from the major wine-growing district in the Upper Valais. A wide range of varieties, typicity, limited quantities and the rich soils give each individual grape its unmistakeable flavours and content. Many companies in Zermatt store these great wines from Salgesch in their cellars and invite visitors to taste them.
In September 2018, the Salgesch wine village and Zermatt Tourismus hosted a joint celebration of the 30-year anniversary of the Grand Cru de Salquenen.
