InfoCube - 3S Bahn

The latest and highest-altitude high-performance tramway in Europe from Trockener Steg to the Klein Matterhorn is being built during the summer seasons from 2016 to 2018. The InfoCube at Trockener Steg is the source of information about this.

A new 3S Lift is under construction on the stretch from Trockener Steg (2,939 m) to Matterhorn glacier paradise (Klein Matterhorn, 3,883 m). A 3S Lift has the gondola on two cables and pulled by a third.

Virtual Travel with the New Lift

The InfoCube is an experience centre where visitors set off on a virtual trip over the glaciers using VR goggles. These VR goggles create a multimedia experience between the past and the future. Interactive information tells the story of the first inclusion of the Klein Matterhorn and the development of the 3S Lift. Videos about this mammoth project by the Zermatt Bergbahnen and the current state of the construction can be viewed on touchscreens.

Construction sites operate under their own rules. This includes a brief building period during the summer as well as physical challenges and circumstances. In addition, visitors may guess about the effect that altitude has on cooking in a construction canteen or on the load-bearing capabilities of a helicopter.
