Zermatt: Three restaurants with Michelin stars
Zermatt is the Swiss gourmet village par excellence. Three new restaurants in Zermatt have been awarded a star and been included in the 2014 issue of the Guide Michelin Switzerland, the popular restaurant guide.
The Seven Group Ascona’s “After Seven” at the Backstage Hotel has received a Michelin star for the first time, making the restaurant under celebrity chef Ivo Adam a new highlight of Zermatt’s culinary scene. In summer, Ivo Adam unfolds his magic at the “Seven” in Ascona (1 Michelin star). This winter he is spending his second season at Heinz Julen’s Backstage Hotel in Zermatt.
“Heimberg” and “Le Capri”
Both the “Heimberg” and “Le Capri” have received a star in the 2014 Guide Michelin. Christian Geissler of “Heimberg” and Antonio Migliaccio of “Le Capri” (Hotel Le Petit Cervin) are established names in Zermatt. Christian Geissler has adopted a highly distinctive culinary style involving a good helping of local produce. “Le Capri” under head chef Andrea Migliaccio from Ischia offers Mediterranean dishes with fish, meat, risotti and other highlights from in and around Naples and its offshore islands. Migliaccio’s L’Olivo restaurant in Anacapri on Capri has 2 Michelin stars for several years now.
Restaurants run by migrant birds
All three of Zermatt’s restaurants with Michelin stars are only open in winter. The head chefs, Ivo Adam, Christian Geisler and Andrea Migliaccio are all migrant birds who come to Zermatt in winter and work at their summer restaurants or in cities all over the world for the rest of the year.
