The Most Welcoming Hotels in Switzerland: Zermatt Prevails Once Again

The Zermatt hoteliers and their teams are among the best in Switzerland. This is clear from the latest Palmarès awarded at the Prix Bienvenu for the most welcoming hotels in Switzerland. The winner of the luxury hotel category is the Mountain Boutique Resort Cervo. Altogether, 10 Zermatt hotels won awards.

The Trendsetter: Since the opening of the Mountain Boutique Resorts Cervo in 2009, the hotelier Daniel F. Lauber and his team have continuously established new trends, for instance as the hotel with the Puro Restaurant (GaultMillau points), an apéro bar with live music, the Ferdinand fondue restaurant, the location of the Zermatt Unplugged music festival or the live music location at the end of the ski piste. Lauber already received the Milestone Newcomer Hotelier prize in 2010. And other prizes were added to the trophy case in past years including the Hotel of the Year title awarded by the ratings of the SonntagsZeitung in 2014. And now a further award on 11 May 2016: The Prix Bienvenu for the best luxury hotel in Switzerland.

Holiday Hotels are Exceptionally Popular in Zermatt

The Holiday Pros: in the “40 Cosy Leisure Holiday Hotels” category, there are 5 Zermatt hosts included: the Suitenhotel Zurbriggen, La Vue – Zermatt Luxury Living, the Hotel Coeur des Alpes, Artist-Apartments & Hotel Garni as well as the Hotel Welschen. In the “30 Large Leisure Holiday Hotels” these 4 Zermatt facilities convinced the jury with their services: Hotel Sonne, Hotel National Zermatt, Hotel Monte Rosa as well as the Park Hotel Beau Site.

The Prix Bienvenu is awarded annually by Swiss Tourism – for the fourth time during the Swiss Holiday Show in Lugano. The award-winning hotels were selected on the basis of guest ratings and reviews. Hundreds of thousands of guest ratings on service quality are collected from around the world from 250 ratings platforms. Instead of location and infrastructure, such factors as attentiveness, willingness to help and sensitivity were rated. In addition, the members of the jury reach a verdict.
