Strahlhorn (4,190 m a.s.l.)
The Strahlhorn lies in the vicinity of Saas-Fee, half-way between the Mischabel group and the Monte Rosa, a few kilometres from the Italian border. Its summit is 4,190 metres above sea level.
Origin of the name
The Strahlhorn has always provided a rich yield of needle quartz, which is known as “Schtrâle” in the Zermatt dialect, thereby giving the mountain its present name. The mountain is almost completely covered by glaciers today.
