Air Zermatt has expanded its fleet with Europe's most modern helicopter. From mid-September, a helicopter Type Bell 429 will fly for the famous mountain rescue service. The Swiss helicopter company stands for reliability and speed. The Air Zermatt specialists rescue casualties from the mountains and out of glacier crevasses as well as performing transport assignments and touristic flights.
The new hiking trail section at the Dossen Glacier Garden is an attractive and scenic link between Dossen and Riffelberg. A hiking trail that is also suitable for families.
The Hörnli Hut is the starting point for most climbers who want to tackle the route up the Matterhorn. The now out-of-date hut is to be renovated for the 2015 anniversary year.
The Zermatt Gravity Park has another big attraction: freestylers and pros can now perfect their jumps on a huge airbag. Therewith the summer snow sport region on the Plateau Rosa thus offers even more training opportunities.
Zermatt hoteliers have every reason to be proud. In the latest hotel rating by the Swiss business magazine Bilanz published at the end of July 2012, Zermatt once again did exceptionally well. On 20 July 2012 Zermatt will be celebrating the 35th anniversary of the Arben Bivouac. Back in 1977 the Royal Dutch Alpine Association (KNAV) gifted the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC) a mountain hut in Zermatt – the Arben Bivouac – of which the club is very proud. At 3,224 m, it opens up the access to the most beautiful climbing routes in the Valais as well as to the Obergabelhorn, the Wellenkuppe and the Zinalrothorn. The Arben Bivouac anniversary will be celebrated with a concert.
