Zermatt Marathon: Attractive for Spectators

2000 participants will set out along the St. Niklaus-Zermatt marathon course on 6 July. This race is a wonderful attraction for spectators – whether from a train car along the route or on the course from Zermatt to Gornergrat via Sunnegga.

The Zermatt Marathon takes place this year for the twelfth time. The preparations for spectators are outstanding. For example, a special Matterhorn-Gotthardbahn train composition will participate as a “traveling grandstand” along the course from St. Niklaus to Zermatt – and keep the pace of the marathon runners. You can cheer them on and wave them a welcome. The train leaves St. Niklaus at 9 am and arrives in Zermatt at 9:52 am.

The race course: St. Niklaus – Herbriggen – Randa – Täsch – Zermatt – Patrullarve – Sunnegga – Gant – Grünsee – Riffelalp – Riffelboden – Riffelberg. Additional “ultra” course continues to Rotenboden – Gornergrat.

Additional Course to Gornergrat
The supplement distance of the Zermatt Marathon called “Ultra” has been sold out for runners since the beginning of March. On-line registration for the normal marathon course is still possible. Registration on-site at the Race Office in St. Niklaus (see below for more information). The runners really appreciate the spectators, who encourage them along the ultra-tough additional course from Riffelberg to Gornergrat.
