Zermatt – the Gourmet Village: Looking forward with anticipation to the Swiss Food Festival 2012

Zermatt, that means 246 points in the Gault Millau Switzerland restaurant guide. 18 restaurants offer the highest level of culinary delight - local products transformed with creativity and skill. The second edition of the Swiss Food Festival takes place in Zermatt in mid-August 2012 - with top chefs who have together amassed 246 GaultMillau points. The second Swiss Food Festival takes place in the centre of the village from the 10th to the 12th August 2012. Four days of Swissness and exquisite culinary pleasure are guaranteed. The Folklore Festival of Zermatt takes place on the same weekend, with music, a parade, folk costume groups and around 1,200 participants from all over Switzerland.

Friday, 10th August 2012:
Zermatt’s top chefs from the 18 GaultMillau restaurants will be cooking on Friday evening before the eyes of the Kitchen-Party guests in the Mont Cervin Palace and in the Grand Hotel Zermatterhof. Together, they combine 246 GaultMillau points. And this is also the cost for this very special pleasure: CHF 246 for top wines from Valais, seasonal and regional specialities in twice 9 courses. 9 in the Zermatterhof and 9 in the Mont Cervin Palace.

From Friday midday until midday Sunday, various producers from Valais also offer regional products all day for tasting and purchase in the charming chalets on the Bahnhofstrasse.

Saturdday, 11th August 2012:
The Kirchplatz is the centre of the culinary world of the Swiss Food Festival on this day. Various specialities from Eringer beef can be enjoyed at various stations – at a price of CHF 17.- per portion.

Sunday, 12th August 2012
On the Sunday morning: a cable-car breakfast. Here, four people can sit in a aerial cable car of the Matterhorn Express, and, while floating in the direction of the alpine mountain world, can enjoy a freshly prepared breakfast with local products such as rye bread (Roggenbrot), cheese and air-dried meat, but also muesli and much more.
