Zermatt Unplugged: Now advanced sale and attractive acts
A festival of acoustic music, love songs and storytelling. Back to the simply beautiful song. With a clear signal in the direction of singer-songwriters, Zermatt Unplugged is starting the advance sales for the fifth edition, which will take place from the 17th to the 21st April 2012.
With eight of the ten acts for the Marquee Stage and the Vernissage, Zermatt Unplugged is presenting singer-songwriters from the USA, Great Britain, Germany, France, Ireland and New Zealand. In the shape of Grégoire, a top French star will be appearing on the Marquee Stage for the first time in the five-year history of the festivals. Amy Macdonald is certainly one of the most talented and successful female musicians of the last few years. At the age of only 22, she was already appearing on stages all around the world following the success of her This is the Life and A Curious Thing albums.
Aloe Blacc, who became known through his song I Need a Dollar, will redefine soul for us, and, in advance of his performance, has already announced a creative journey into the past. And, with Chris de Burgh, we will be celebrating the return of the artist who opened the very first Zermatt Unplugged concert in 2007.
The line-up of the Vernissage is a class for itself: Zermatt Unplugged presents the artists in an intimate setting here. There are some unique performances ahead of us, with Newton Faulkner, Clueso & Bernewitz Trio, Jonathan Jeremiah and Brooke Fraser. All the signs indicate that the stages in the mountain areas will be expanded further at Zermatt Unplugged 2012. A successful start was made last year with the Blue Lounge at Blauherd.
“Keep the Customer Satisfied”
Naturally 7, the vocal play act at Zermatt Unplugged 2011, launched their new song Keep the Customer Satisfied to coincide with the start of the advance sales. The video clip was recorded last year during the festival period in a cable car between Sunnegga and Rothorn paradise, together with the Roc Kidz Crew street dancers. The clip conveys the unique feeling of their performance and of unamplified music in what is certainly the most breath- taking mountain landscape in Europe.
Founded in 2007 by Thomas Sterchi and Marco Godat as a singer and songwriter festival, Zermatt Unplugged is increasingly developing into a meeting point for fans of undistorted sounds. Musicians and bands such as Suzanne Vega, Chris de Burgh, Alanis Morissette, Jason Mraz, Onerepublic, Billy Idol, Mando Diao, Seal, Lionel Richie and Reamonn have been inspired by the “Unplugged” idea and have played on the Marquee and Club Stages of the festival.
Early next year, from the 17th – 21st April 2012, Zermatt Unplugged will be digging its way through the snow and ice at 1,620 metres above sea level. The festival invites outstanding and internationally known musicians to measure themselves against a unique, high alpine background, completely without any studio technology.
