France and England: travel directly towards the Matterhorn by the TGV
Snow sports enthusiasts from England and France take note: this winter the TGV Lyria will travel directly and swiftly into the Valais. This time-saving winter arrival option means: passengers from Lille in France will arrive in Visp in seven hours, and in Zermatt in just eight hours.
In winter, the TGV Lyria will travel from Lille to Brig every Saturday from 22 December 2012 to 13 April 2013. The "Train à Grande Vitesse" will depart from the northern French city of Lille at 10:02 and arrive in Visp at 16:57. The journey to Zermatt continues with the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn (MGB) at 17:10
The express train will carry around 360 passengers; seats can be booked now. It will be possible to take skis and snowboards directly onto the train without the payment of a supplement. The ticket price also includes a meal. English snow sports enthusiasts too will be served extremely well by this connection: You can board in London St. Pancras at 06:57, change trains in Lille, with a direct connection at the times given above.
