The Dom Hut serves as the main starting point for climbs up the seven surrounding 4,000m peaks. The hut, after extensive refurbishment and conversion, will re-open its doors on 7 July 2013.

On 24 August 2013, Zermatt will host the first ever Matterhorn Ultraks Trail. Over 1,000 contestants are expected to compete in what is the first mountain race of its kind. Until 30 of June, contestants may take advantage of the reduced registration fee. Volunteer helpers will have the opportunity to experience the race at close hand.
The world of classical music returns to Zermatt - the Zermatt Festival will kick off on 30 August 2013. Among this year’s very special guests are the German soprano singer Mojca Erdmann and the French-German cellist Nicolas Altstaedt.
The Schalijoch bivouac has a birthday. 50 years ago the Basel section of the SAC (Swiss Alpine Club) built this bivouac on the ascent route of the south-west ridge to the summit of the Weisshorn. The birthday party takes place on 8 June in Randa.
Zermatt hotels are top. In the prize awards for the 100 most friendly hotels in Switzerland, as many as 11 Zermatt hotels are included. Although they did not win first place, the broad foundations of hospitality of the Zermatt hotel business is a super result. The Hotel Sonne shone in second place as the best Zermatt hotel in the “large holiday hotels” category.
The hotels in Zermatt come out on top. This can be seen once again in the latest rating of the SonntagsZeitung newspaper. Furthermore, Boris Wolffgardt from the Mont Cervin Palace hotel has been selected as concierge of 2013. Congratulations!
