For the eleventh time, the SonntagsZeitung (a Swiss Sunday newspaper) has rated Swiss hotels based on the quality, investment, hospitality, price/performance ratio and innovation of the hotelier. As many as eleven Zermatt hotels have been classified under the best hotels in Switzerland.
In the winter of 1965, Walter Bonatti (22.06.1930 - 13.09.2011) single-handedly climbed the North Face of the Matterhorn. The Matterhorn Museum Zermatlantis will be presenting a small exhibition about this special achievement from the 22nd June 2012 onwards.
Pure adrenaline and fun. That’s the experience you will have in the Zermatt Forest Fun Park. A new attraction is the almost 200-metre long Tyrolienne that runs from one tree to another at a height of 30 metres above the ground.

Calling all kids: Wolli now has a colouring book with 12 pages of pictures to colour in as brightly and imaginatively as you choose. The book is in A5 format and will be available from Zermatt Tourism from the end of May 2012.
Zermatt is top. So says Tripadvisor, the world’s largest travel portal. Zermatt is featured as the only Swiss destination under the 25 most popular travel destinations in Europe.
A complete success: That was the fifth edition of Zermatt Unplugged (17.-21.4.2012). 17,000 visitors experienced outstanding concerts, danced until the early hours of the morning and were often not sure whether to believe their eyes or not: nowhere else can you get so close to the stars, and nowhere else can they act as casually and relaxed as in a small village in the Valais mountains, in Zermatt.
Zermatt has a champion once again: Yannic Lerjen successfully defended his title, at the beginning of April 2012, putting up a fantastic performance to take the championship title in the overall ranking on the Swisscom Freeski Tour.
The Patrouille des Glaciers, the toughest mountain races in the world, will take place from 25th to 28th April 2012. The start is in Zermatt, and the race continues to Verbier via Arolla. The overall height difference amounts to around 12,000 metres. New feature: the progress of the alpine ski race can be followed with the help of an app for smart phones.
The Matterhorn, local name “Hore”, is in motion. In 2003, rockslides from the Hörnligrat ridge attracted international attention. The Matterhorn has long been under scientific observation. Scientists state that rockslides have always been a possibility and are keeping an eye on the mountain of mountains in order to understand the mechanisms at work.
