Black-faced sheep characterise Zermatt’s mountain pastures during the summer and are a frequent sight throughout the Upper Valais. The traditional ram market was recently held in Visp and awarded prizes to the finest rams. The Zermatt rams did well. Two of them can be admired in their barn in Zermatt until they are summered.

Insiders know: many of the bands that appear in Zermatt Unplugged are on the brink of a definite breakthrough. The group ‘Hecht“ was already featured in the 2012 edition of Zermatt Unplugged, and will also set the mood in April 2013 – with dialect texts and Indie pop rhythms. Now they have bagged the Swiss Music Award for Best Talent.

Marlon Roudette is set to delight fans yet again with his sensitive songs at the Zermatt Unplugged Festival. He will be performing at the Vernissage on Saturday, 13 April 2013. This music festival of a special kind also has other soundscapes to offer.

At the 2013 Skitour Racing World Championships in Pelvoux, France, Martin Anthamatten from Zermatt collected the silver medal. In the team relay two of the 4-man team were from Zermatt – Andreas Steindl and again Martin Anthamatten.

The top stars of the freerider scene are in Zermatt until Friday, 15 February 2013, so there’s still plenty for spectators to see and enjoy. The next contest is on Thursday, February 14, at Breitboden beneath the Hohtälli and Gornergrat Railways. And that means lots of entertainment and partying.more >>

Zermatt’s ski instructors are world champions. Zermatt’s contingent performed outstandingly well at the ISIA Ski Instructors World Championships in Bulgaria. Alex Taugwalder is World Champion Ski Instructor in Giant Slalom, with Demian Franzen third. Zermatt’s instructors were also top dog in the synchronised runs.
