Zermatt Festival: an invitation to a high in musical experimentation
Watch, listen, get close to the artistic action: a rehearsal is sometimes more thrilling than the actual concert. Guests are welcome when members of the Berlin Philharmonic teach students at the Zermatt Festival Academy.
For 30 highly talented music students from all over the world, the annual Zermatt Festival Academy, staged within the framework of the Zermatt Festival (2 to 18 September 2011), is a highlight of learning their craft. The students of today attend a workshop, taught by musicians who have already scaled Olympus. The teachers are instrumentalists from the Scharoun Ensemble Berlin, all members of the Berlin Philharmonic, one of the world’s leading orchestras. As teachers, their work with the students in Zermatt gives them valuable inspiration for their own artistic work and they also pass on their knowledge.
From 6 to 18 September, guests of Destination Zermatt can visit the rehearsals and join in this learning process, which is inspiring for both teachers and students. The rehearsals are open to the public, admission is free and no reservation is required. The rehearsals take place from morning until late at night, in Zermatt hotels and Zermatt Festival concert venues.
We recommend asking at the tourist office on the day of your visit about the current rehearsal plan. Telephone Zermatt Tourism: +41 (0) 27 966 81 00
