Zermatt: News from the Swiss Food Festival


Gourmets will be flocking to Zermatt’s Swiss Food Festival in droves. For three days, from 9 to 11 August 2013, the Matterhorn village will be all about local delicacies. On Saturday, passers-by can sample culinary delights on Kirchplatz.

Foodies are in for a treat at the Gault&Millau Kitchen Party on Friday evening and the Breakfast with a View on Sunday morning. Please register if you want to attend, there are only a few places left (see below).

Local delicacies on Kirchplatz
The busy chefs of the Gault&Millau restaurants will not only work on Friday and Sunday but also on Saturday afternoon. On Kirchplatz, visitors can sample culinary delights prepared by Zermatt’s Gault&Millau chefs. The menu includes quiches, fried lamb sausages, roast, knuckles of veal and Polenta.

Souvenir tip: Culinary chalets
Once again, a large number of culinary chalets along Bahnhofstrasse will offer regional and national delicacies that visitors can sample and buy. Many of the products make for delicious souvenirs that will delight all gourmets at home.
A weekend of highlights
Other exciting events will be happening on this August weekend aside from the Swiss Food Festival. On Sunday, 11 August, around 1,200 performers will take part in the 45th Folklore Festival. In the early afternoon, Zermatt‘s Bahnhofstrasse will abound with colourful groups presenting folk music, songs and dances.A weekend of highlights.
