Matterhorn Ultraks Trail: be part of it – as a spectator

first Matterhorn Ultraks Trail race. There are three courses to choose from: 16, 30 and 46 km. For spectators wishing to cheer the athletes on, there is a range of excellent vantage points, from the starting line through various points along the courses in the mountains.

“The Matterhorn Ultraks races are held in breath-taking surroundings and attract athletes of all levels”, says Daniel Luggen, director of the tourist board. “Spectators can really get up close to the runners”, he continues. Younger participants, who may compete on 700 and 1,600 m tracks, are of course also catered for.

Kirchplatz: Center of action
The starting line is at Kirchplatz in the centre of Zermatt. Here, the races will be shown on a big screen throughout the day and food and drink will also be available. In the ‘Sport-Village’ on Kirchplatz, equipment manufacturers will be demonstrating the latest developments in the world of sports clothing, shoes and nutrition.

Low-cost spectator tickets
On the occasion of the Matterhorn Ultraks Trail, the lift companies Zermatt Bergbahnen AG and Gornergratbahn will have inexpensive all-in-one tickets on offer for spectators. The Peak Pass costs CHF 95 for one day and CHF 114 for two days and is subject to special conditions: Each competitor will receive 2 vouchers for the discounted tickets and they are only valid between 23 and 25 August 2013.
