Downhillers in Zeramtt can now use stop watches

18.07.2013

Downhill bikers are in for a new treat. The Suneggbahn now provides stop watches which show bikers how fast they come down the track. The watches can be used free of charge.

The watches can be obtained free of charge at the Sunegga Bahn base station. However, only a limited number of watches are available. Bikers pay extra for the transport of their bikes. CHF 10 per day are added to the normal mountain railway ticket. Holders of general abonnements and half-rate cards pay CHF 5. Getting the bike onto the funicular is not difficult – the first compartment is reserved for this purpose.

Underground watches
This is how it works: Seven sensors were buried under the downhill course from Sunnegga to Zermatt. On special watches, they show the downhill bikers how much time they needed for each individual section.
