The village of top class hotels

Zermatt hoteliers can be proud of themselves. In the latest hotel rating of the business magazine Bilanz at the end of July 2011, Zermatt once again achieved very good ratings. This time, two hotels have been classified as the best Swiss Hotels in their respective categories: the Riffelalp Resort and the Hotel Coeur des Alpes.
“Top Swiss product: A full charge of alpine lifestyle awaits you at an altitude of 2,222 metres”, writes Bilanz about the winning hotel in the “The best holiday hotels in Switzerland” category, the Riffelalp Resort in Zermatt. This noble lodge simultaneously fulfils the highest international standards with respect to room comfort, service, cuisine, sport and spa expertise. And it personifies “Swiss authenticity in a more modern manner than its competitors.” The hotel achieved third place in last year’s ratings.

The Mont Cervin Palace Zermatt is also in the same category, and was classified at place 21. The five-star hotel has thereby been able to improve its rating by one place. Honourably mentioned are also the following hotels: The Omnia Mountain Lodge (place 26), Mirabeau (place 27) and Cervo (place 29). The hotel Mirabeau is also specially mentioned in the running text of the article:  The Hotel Mirabeau stands out through "its friendly normality and the hotel culture that is lived day for day."
Zermatt: also the best “unique - three-star” hotel
The Zermatt Garni-Hotel Coeur des Alpes once again occupies the first place in the hotel rating category of “The best Swiss three-star and Unique holiday hotels”, while the Hotel Post achieved 12th place in the same category.

Bilanz bases its ratings on four assessment pillars that cover a wide spectrum of sources. Written surveys are carried out with top hoteliers, and Bilanz also tests the hotels, with 400 hotels being visited this year for this purpose. In addition, Bilanz also took into account the valuations in specialist guides, as well as the experiences of travel managers and meeting organisers.
