The dice will be cast
From 29 May to 1 June, Heinz Julen will be spending time on the Dachstein glacier in the Austrian province of Styria as a guest artist. In the fifth year of the Spring Studio Workshop (Frühjahrsatelier), where renowned artists are inspired to do exceptional things on the glacier, Julen will cast the dice. The art cubes, which Julen will throw from the Dachstein at an altitude of nearly 3000 m, are a metaphor for fate which polishes us "after we have been cast into life" and ultimately shatters us. Afterwards, the artist from Zermatt will gather up the cubes and place them in a new installation - as an image of another form of existence and the great beyond in which everything is transformed.
