The advance sales for the seventh edition of the Zermatt Festival have now been opened. A discount of ten percent is available on on-line concert tickets up to the 30th June, and the full programme can be found on the homepage, as well as in printed form on the counter of Zermatt Tourism from the middle of July.
Among others, members of the Berliner Philharmonic, the Scharoun Ensemble Berlin, are teaching and playing in the highest altitude concert and rehearsal rooms in Europe. The highlights of this year’s edition, which runs from the 2nd to the 18th September 2011, are the «German Requiem» von Brahms in the St. Mauritius parish church, Schubert’s "Winter Journey" in the Riffelalp Chapel, masterpieces from Mozart, the opera star Barbara Hannigan and the works of the contemporary Russian composer Sofia Gubaidulina. The students of the Zermatt Festival Academy will be performing in the St. Peter's Church and in other localities. The rehearsals are open to the public, and are free of charge. Children have the possibility of taking part in the artistic "Discovery" workshops free of charge.
