Zermatt Bergbahnen AG – consolidation at a high level
Zermatt Bergbahnen AG today held its 8th annual general meeting in Zermatt.Following six consecutive record years, the company’s results for the past financial year provided evidence of consolidation at a high level!
Top summer, second best winter!
Summer takings were once again at a record level. In winter, the company recorded its second best results since the merger in 2002 – despite the global financial crisis and the swine flu! With operating revenues of CHF 66.2 million and expenses of CHF 33.9 million, it posted an EBITDA of CHF 32.3 million, i.e. 48.8% of operating revenues, and cash flow of CHF 25.7 million or 38.9% of operating revenues. At the annual general meeting, the governing board once again proposed the distribution of a dividend of 7%.
restaurant & shop Matterhorn glacier paradise in accordance with the MINERGIE-P standard
The opening of the restaurant & shop Matterhorn glacier paradise, which conforms to the MINERGIE-P standard, on 25 December 2008 and the lodge Matterhorn glacier paradise, located in the same building, on 1 April 2009 meant a huge and sustainable improvement in comfort for guests. Both the restaurant and lodge have had high numbers of visitors and have already reached their limits in terms of capacity. The expectations of both the client (Zermatt Bergbahnen AG) and the operator (Matterhorn Group) have been exceeded and clearly demonstrate the necessity for further expansion at Europe’s highest viewpoint at 3,883 m.a.s.l.
Successful first season for the “Leisee Shuttle” at Sunegga paradise
The first winter season for the “Leisee Shuttle” and the “Wolli” park for beginners at Sunegga paradise exceeded all expectations with almost 50,000 journeys having been undertaken already. Both offers have been exceptionally well used.A great option that is quick and easy to reach is now available for families with children in particular.
Thanks to extra efforts in the area of marketing and sales, the increased use of synergies with other service providers in Zermatt, and modern facilities and pistes, success is also becoming increasingly evident in summer.Summer business is developing into a significant pillar for Zermatt Bergbahnen AG, alongside winter activities. The merger has thus had a thoroughly positive effect throughout.
