Nordend (4,609 m.a.s.l.)
The Nordend is the second-highest summit in Switzerland, is a neighbour of the Dufourspitze and the most northerly 4000-metre peak in the Monte Rosa Massif. It is surrounded by glaciers on the north and north-east sides and has an impressively powerful appearance.

The Nordend (North End) is the most northerly peak of the Monte Rosa Massif.

The Nordend is usually approached from Zermatt or from the Rotenboden station of the Gornergratbahn via the Monte-Rosa-Hütte. The normal route leads from the Silbersattel (4,515 m.a.s.l.) over the South Ridge to the summit. |
