The hotel industry has a new award – Swiss Hotelier of the Year. This award will now be given for the first time this year. On Thursday, 22nd of October, the three nominees for the award were announced.
Included among them: Zermatt hotelier Daniel F. Lauber from the Cervo Mountain Boutique Resort. The other two nominees are Carlo Fontana from the Hotel Lugano Dante and the Hotel Berna in Milan as well as Raphael Wyniger from the Hotel Teufelhof in Basel. Whoever ultimately takes home the award and is the Swiss Hotelier of the Year will be announced on 24 November.
Thus, the Swiss hotel industry has been enriched with a new award. The Bilanz magazine, GaultMillau Restaurant Guide and the SonntagsZeitung already hand out such titles. With the new award, the industry has set an objective of rewarding exceptional services and promoting excellence in Switzerland’s hotellerie. The award winner is selected by a wide-ranging panel of judges. A hotelier may not present his own submission but rather must be nominated by someone else.
The jury rates management performance, profitability, a clear statement, innovation, originality, entrepreneurial willingness to take risks, image in the industry and above-average customer evaluations. The sponsors of the award are Hotelleriesuisse and the Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL).
