Swiss Epic cycling competition comes to Zermatt in 2014

Insiders have known for a long term that Zermatt is Switzerland‘s big cyclists’ paradise. Now the “Swiss Epic”, the biggest bike race, is coming to the canton of Valais for the first time and also to Zermatt. Registration for participants starts on 13th October 2013, but be warned, the number of participants is limited.

“Swiss Epic” is held every year in September. In 2014, the race will held in stages from Verbier via Leukerbad and Grächen to Zermatt. Teams of two may take part. The six-day mountain-bike stage race for teams of two will take place from 15 to 20 September 2014. Verbier (preliminary) is the starting point and then goes on in stages to Leukerbad, Grächen and onto Zermatt. The number of participants is restricted to 600. The race is open to professional athletes, but also to ambitious amateur sportsmen aged 18 and over. There will be a draw for the starting positions.

  • Stopovers: Verbier (preliminary, start), Leukerbad, Gärchen, Zermatt (finish line)
  • 400 km
  • 15,000 metres of ascent
  • Swiss Epic flow race with 300 km and 8,000 metres of ascent
  • Part of the climbs will be negotiated using a shuttle service
  • Registration as from 1.10 pm on 13.10.2013
  • All-inclusive packages
