Zermatt: once again the best downhill-skiing area in the Alps
For the fourth successive time, the skiing destination Zermatt Matterhorn was voted the best skiing area in 2013 by the German ‘ski bible‘, the ADAC SkiGuide, at the end of November 2012. This was in the category “alpine skiing“. Particular praise was given for the mixture of different types of pistes.
In the ‘alpine skiing‘ category Zermatt can again call itself the ‘Top Ski Area in 2013‘. It thus finds itself at the head of the list of 200 skiing regions described. The ADAC writes: “In the field of classical alpine skiing Zermatt has for years been streets ahead of other resorts.” It is the mix of varied pistes that convinced the testers: of the 360 kms. of ski slopes, 58 kms. are difficult runs. There are also sufficient possibilities for beginners. All this ‘‘against the impressive backdrop of the Monte Rosa massif and the Matterhorn“. What‘s more: ‘‘The highest cable car station in the Alps, at 3900 metres altitude, is located here‘‘.
The ADAC ‘ski bible‘ comes out in December 2012. Price: 24.99 euros in retail or online. Edition only in German.
