Swatch gives prizes to summiteers

19 July 2014 saw the official inauguration of the the Base Camp Matterhorn on Hirli (2,880 m). The weather resistance of the “Temporary Alpine Shelters”  was immediately put to the test. Braving strong winds, the Camp at the foot of the Matterhorn  provided comfortable accommodation to its first overnight guests.

Situated in the beautiful Alpine landscape, the Base Camp Matterhorn offers an impressive view of the Matterhorn. Swatch is climbing the peak together with the mountaineers and is offering rewards for their stamina: For the duration of the Base Camp Matterhorn, successful Matterhorn summiteers will receive a summit certificate. Complete with name, date and signature of the accompanying mountain guide, the document is evidence of the mountaineer’s successful ascent of the famous Matterhorn peak at an altitude of 4,478 m.

In addition, the courageous Alpinists will receive an exclusive Swatch Gent watch that is not commercially available.

First pop-up hotel in the Alps

The Base Camp Matterhorn is the first pop-up hotel in the Alps. Between July and September 2014, the Camp is replacing the Hörnlihütte, which is closed for renovation, offering summiteers unique overnight accommodation on Hirli at an altitude of 2,880 m.
