O runners meet in Zermatt

The Swiss Orienteering Week, SOW, will take place in Zermatt from 19 to 26 July. Runners can compete in different races throughout the week.

The SOW offers six different orienteering competitions with courses ranging between 1.6 and 5 km. The registration deadline for the whole week is 5 July, but runners can still register for individual days during the Swiss O Week. The courses run through beautiful landscape at the foot of the Matterhorn.

Beginners wishing to be initiated into the secrets of orienteering can take part in the initiation events between 14 and 18 July.

A record number of 4,500 runners from 38 countries have already registered for the SOW 2014 in Zermatt. 

Audience attraction

On Saturday 19 July at 3 p.m., the sprint competition featuring world class athletes, such as Simon Niggli and further world champions, will take place at the Obere Matten sports grounds in the heart of Zermatt. An exciting event for the audience!
