Family barbecue area at Eien
This family barbecue area is located in the forest in Eien, also known as Eye. Not far away is the vast cone of rock debris left by the Randa landslide.
The Eien family barbecue area reveals the mixed landscape of this bare mountain valley. Close by, the foaming Bisbach river carries meltwater from the Bis Glacier on the slopes of the Weisshorn. Trees cast welcoming shade; rocks and boulders lie scattered around. Tall mounds of sand and gravel reveal the activity of a gravel works. Next to it is the gargantuan cone of rock debris left by the Randa landslide that devastated a large stretch of the valley in 1991. Miraculously, no one was hurt.
